Knights Notes-5/15: Two more Knights teams look to make way into state semis

Welcome to Knights Notes, a daily recap and preview of all the stuff happening with Knights athletics and former Middletown athletes.

First, a deserved apology. Unfortunately, I’ve been really busy with school and other stuff so I haven’t had time to update the blog in  a while but I’m back at it today and I those who stuck around our ready for a busy day of action for Middletown Athletics.

Today, softball and baseball dash headlong into their regional finals versus Liberty and South Carroll, respectively and will look to copy their compatriots on the boys and girls lacrosse teams by clinching berths in the state semifinals.

Now, without further ado, here are your Knights Notes for May 15th:

- The Middletown High School Knights Baseball team will look to avenge a 5-1 regular season loss when they head to Carroll County to take on South Carroll in the regional final round of the 2015 M.P.S.S.A.A. 2A Baseball Tournament. (Link)

- The Middletown High School Softball team will have a similar trip down to Carroll County when they head to Liberty High School to take on the Lions in the regional final for the 2A West Region in the 2015 M.P.S.S.A.A. 2A Softball Tournament. (Story Coming)

- Robby Tucker and the Frostburg State University Baseball team have come down to do-or-die time when they take on Shenandoah at 12:00 p.m. from Washington & Jefferson College as a loss will eliminate the Bobcats from the N.C.A.A. Division III Mideast Regional. (Link)

- Nick Rabat and the Virginia Commonwealth Baseball team are coming sown to the wire on their regular season as they will take on St. Bonaventure at 12:00 p.m. today. The Rams are tied with St. John’s for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic-10 tournament with both teams having 2 games left. (Link)

- Connor Myers and the Old Dominion University Baseball team are also on the edge of a playoff berth as they will need a win today or tomorrow to lock up a spot in the Conference USA Tournament. Today’s match-up sees first pitch between the Blazers and the Monarchs at 3:00 p.m. from the Deep South. (Link)

- Sticking with the prevalent theme, Mitch Sgrignoli and the Mount Saint Mary’s Baseball team will look to lock up a spot in their conference tournament this weekend when they take on Farleigh-Dickinson. The Mount will need 2 wins over 4 games to lock up a playoff spot. They’ll take on the Knights from Teaneck, New Jersey at 3:00 p.m. (Link)

- Kameryn Corcoran and the University of Virginia rowing team will look to continue their dominance of the ACC Tournament when they compete in the 2015 ACC Tournament from Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina. The Cavaliers have won 14 of the past 15 ACC Tournaments and will look to take their 15th today at 6:00 p.m. (Link)
