Winning After MidKnight
The
Middletown High School Knights Golf team knew that they weren’t going to need a
great effort to take down the Tuscarora High School Titans, a team that has
struggled this year significantly.
And, in the
end it wasn’t a great effort for the Knights as they shot a 176 but still
managed to take down the Titans by a score of 176-204.
Just based on
scores alone Middletown did not have their best match of the year as in
previous matches the Knights had shot into the 150’s and really flexed their
muscles as one of the top golf teams in the Central Maryland Conference.
Obviously, on the 6th there wasn’t as much flexing for the Knights,
but to use a golf term, everyone needs a mulligan once in a while and the
Knights got their mulligan by having a tough match against a team who was
easier competition.
The top
scorers for Middletown were sophomore Joey Weiland with a 41 as Weiland
continues his run by playing some of the most consistent golf for the Knights
since the season begun. Following close behind him for Middletown was senior
Robbie Houck who put up a 43 and has also been playing all-around, consistent
golf for the Knights.
Middletown
has been given a mulligan this time but in their next match they face the
Linganore High School Lancers and the Knights will need to be sharp if they
want to take down the Lancers.
Strangely,
the Lancers also struggled in their game on the 6th against the
Walkersville High School Lions meaning that both teams might be saving their
strongest golf for the game that really matters.
