JV Girl's Soccer: Knights find balance against Brunswick

Winning After MidKnight

The Middletown High School Knights Junior Varsity Girl’s Soccer team will look to start their season off with a win when they take on the Brunswick High School Railroaders at Brunswick High School at 5:30 p.m.

This looks to be a good contest for the Knights to start off with as at this level the Railroaders are more of an underdog team who has struggled to put good results together during past seasons.

The goal for Middletown will come from an offensive standpoint as Middletown has looked solid at defense during their first few scrimmages but like their older counterparts at Varsity, have had trouble putting the ball in the back of the net on a consistent basis.

This challenge may be something that the Knights will have an opportunity to resolve today as they will take on a Railroaders squad that will give Middletown plenty of opportunities to be aggressive on the ball and allow them to dictate the tempo of play at the pace that will suit Middletown the best.

For Middletown some of the key parts that will help the Knights dip into the offensive style of play are sophomore midfielder Gemma Carioti, sophomore forward Abigail Tatem, and sophomore forward Sarah O’Toole. All three are very potent and powerful for the Knights up front but haven’t found away to tap into that potency so far this year and will need to do that against the Railroaders if the Knights want to start their season out with a 1-0 record.

Defensively the Knights have already proven that they are solid on the back line and in between the goals as a large group of Knights including sophomore goalkeeper Molly Faron and others will hope to continue the solid overall play that they showed off during the pre-season.

For Middletown, it will be a chance to break their dry spell and ride the waves all the way to a victory over Brunswick.
