Winning After MidKnight
Tuesday’s and
Thursday’s are the busy days for Middletown Athletics and this Thursday,
September 15th is no different as there are a ton of Knights
Athletics teams in action plus a good number of Middletown Alumni who have
games across the world of college sports. So, without any further ado the
Knights Notes for 9/15.
Yesterday’s News-9/14
- The Golf
team took care of business as they dispatched of Governor Thomas Johnson by a
168-196 score. You can read about how the Knights got it done to the right. (Recap Coming)
- The Junior
Varsity Football team would fall to the Linganore Lancers, 35-7 as a late
fourth quarter surge by the Lancers would give them the win. (Recap Coming)
- Abigail
Provost (’16) and the Stevenson Field Hockey team would fall in an offensive
shootout to Goucher by a 5-3 margin as the Mustangs would fall even though they
scored the most goals in a game during this early season. (Link)
- Clay Smith
(’16) and the Hood Men’s Soccer team would fall to #10 Rowan by a 2-0 score but
would prove that they are for real as they would outshoot Rowan by a 20-14
margin and would be the better of the two teams. Smith would record two shots
in 65 minutes of action. (Link)
- MacKenzie
Noel (’12) and the Salisbury Women’s Soccer team has been on a streak of tying
games and their contest against Roanoke College was no different as the Sea
Gulls would draw with the Maroons by a 1-1 score. The draw would put the Sea
Gulls record at 1-0-3 as Salisbury remains undefeated but have only won one of
four contests. (Link)
- Haley
Dalphon (’15) and the Frostburg State Bobcats Women’s Soccer team would let a
strong second half power their comeback as they would score three unanswered
goals to topple Shenandoah by a 3-1 score. The Bobcats would get back to .500
with the win over the Hornets. (Link)
- Lauren
Neary (’15) and the Washington College Women’s Soccer team would dispatch
Goucher with a 2-1 win, as the Shorewomen would use two early first half goals
to take care of Goucher. Neary would play 13 minutes in the Washington College
win. (Link)
Alumni and High School Record: 3-3-1, 1-1 high school, 2-2-1 alumni
Knight of the Day: Not a lot of Knights in action
yesterday so this award will stay in the Happy Valley as the Joey Weiland will
get the award for his performance when Middletown beat TJ in golf.
Today’s Happenings-9/15
- The Junior
Varsity Field Hockey team will look to start the Frederick County portion of
their schedule off with a bang when they take on the Tuscarora High School
Titans from Middletown at 5:15 p.m. (Preview Coming)
- The Varsity
Field Hockey team will look to start off the Central Maryland Conference
portion of their schedule when they take on Tuscarora at 4:00 p.m. in
Middletown. This match-up will be a rematch of the 2015 Central Maryland
Conference Field Hockey Championship in which the Knights won 3-1 at Thomas
Athletic Field on the Hood College campus. (Preview Coming)
- The Junior
Varsity Boy’s Soccer team will look to string together a winning streak as the
Knights head to Tuscarora High School to take on the Titans. Middletown starts
the Frederick County portion of their schedule coming off of a 4-0 win over
North Hagerstown. Opening kickoff of the contest will be at 5:30 p.m. (Preview Coming)
- The Varsity
Boy’s Soccer team has played three regular season games and two tournament games
and all games have ended in wins for Middletown and the Knights will look to
continue that unbeaten streak when they head to Tuscarora High School to take
on the Titans, with the opening kickoff coming at 7:00 p.m. (Preview Coming)
- The Junior
Varsity Girl’s Soccer team also has an unbeaten streak of their own that
they’ll look to continue against the Titans as they’ll look to extend their
streak to three games. The Titans and the Knights will kick off from Middletown
at 5:30 p.m. (Preview Coming)
- The Varsity
Girl’s Soccer team will look to also get back into the winning swing of things
as they take on the Tuscarora Titans from
Middletown at 7:00 p.m. The Knights are 1-0 in Central Maryland
Conference play and will look to extend that record to 2-0 when they take on
the Titans. (Preview Coming)
- The Junior
Varsity Volleyball team is also another Middletown Athletics team looking to
recover from another loss as they’ll take on the Tuscarora Titans at home at
6:00 p.m. Middletown is 2-1 but is coming off a loss against Maryland School
for the Deaf. (Preview Coming)
- The Varsity
Volleyball team will have their work cut out for them when they take on
Tuscarora in Middletown at 7:00 p.m. The Titans are the defending Central
Maryland Conference Volleyball Champions while the Knights are coming off a
five-set loss to Maryland School for the Deaf. (Preview Coming)
- Emma
Neahusan (’14) and the Grace College Women’s Soccer team will head to Grand
Rapids, Michigan when they take on Davenport from Michigan as the Lancers will
look to pick up win #2 in the early season as they are coming off a win against
Missouri Baptist. (Link)
- Alizah
Johns-Boehme (’15) and the Villanova Women’s Soccer team will play the second
cross-town rival that they have played in the past seven days when they take on
La Salle from La Salle in a game played just across Philadelphia. The Wildcats
are 0-2 against the cross-town rivals already falling to Drexel and Saint
Joseph’s this season. (Link)
- Sam
Higginbothem (’14), Aubrey Pfau (Director of Volleyball Ops) and Maryland
Volleyball will look to start the Pac 12 Challenge off with a bang when they
take on Washington from Los Angeles, California and the campus of the
University of Southern California. The Terps and Huskies will get underway at
8:00 p.m. (Link)
