Winning After MidKnight
The time
keeps ticking away as we are just outside 48 hours until the official start of
the Fall Sports season and we are also officially at the end of pre-season as
now all that’s standing between Opening Day and today is a whole lot of time.
So, relax and let the clock tick away as you read our Knights Notes for August
31st.
Yesterday’s News
- The Golf
team is starting to get hot as they picked up their second straight win taking
down the Westminster Owls by a score of 159-164. We’ll have the recap of that
contest coming up a little later in the day.
- Two notes
of importance for Frederick Community College Women’s Soccer and their trio of
Middletown alumni playing for them (Sharnette Gonzalez, Victoria Doing, and
MacKenzie Farran). First, the Cougars would lose to Gallaudet University in a
scrimmage yesterday by a score of 3-2. But, more importantly their August 28th
match against Oxford College at Emory University has now been scored a forfeit
instead of a 1-0 defeat.
Knight of the Day: There are not one, not two, but three
Knights of the Day today is the award will go to Middletown golfers Andrew
Heon, Joey Weiland, and Robbie Houck. All three shot under 40 yesterday, with a
36, 38, and a 40 respectively to power the Knights over the Westminster Owls by
a score of 159-164.
Today’s Happenings
- There are
no Middletown Athletics teams in action tonight but there is one Middletown
alumni in action tonight. In what will be a preview of the Midwest League
Eastern Division First Half Series, Connor Myers (’12) and the South Bend Cubs
(A Affiliate-Cubs) will head to Comstock Park, Michigan to take on the West
Michigan Whitecaps (A Afilliate-Tigers). First pitch between the Cubbies and ‘Caps
will be at 7:00 p.m. (Link)
