Golf: Knights obliterate Frederick, 157-191

Winning After MidKnight

FREDERICK-The Middletown High School Golf team kept up their winning ways on Thursday September 1st, with a massive blowout win over the Frederick High School Cadets by a score of 157-191.

It was a quick turnaround for the Knights, who just two days ago took down the Westminster High School Owls by a score of 159-164 in what at the time was the best the Knights had played this season.

Middletown, then responded today by going out and again playing some of the best overall golf that the Knights had played all season, with all of the Knights golfers shooting under 42 for the first time this season.

And, it wasn’t just one golfer who brought the Knights scores down as Middletown got solid scores across the board with Andrew Heon and Joey Weiland both putting up 37 respectively while Robbie Houck registered a 41 and Nic Bradley put up a 42.

Middletown has done a good job this season about getting all four golfers to put up respectable scores in the same matches and this was no different as Middletown once again proved that they have the depth and the skill to compete as individuals and in the team format when the playoffs roll around for Golf.

The Knights were in good shape against a developing Cadets team to begin with so Thursday’s match was a chance for the Knights to fine tune themselves, especially their short game without having to worry about the negative effects of tinkering with their game causing drastic consequences.

And, now that the Knights have taken down Frederick they can look into their future as the next match will present them with a chance to measure up against one of the best teams in Frederick County, the Linganore High School Lancers.

If Middletown can continue to keep their scores as a team consistently low, than the Knights may just measure up to the Lancers.
