Junior Varsity Field Hockey: Knights Battle With Manchester Valley; Fall 2-0

By Ben Spector
Winning After MidKnight

The Middletown High School Knights Junior Varsity Field Hockey team has done everything they could have done in order to pick up a win this season. In at least two of their games the Knights have clearly been the better team and have found the back of the net three times and have had all of those goals called back. All the Knights are now waiting for is a little bit of luck to match how they have been playing on a consistent base.

Middletown would continue to play good hockey but come up short when they fell to the Manchester Valley High School Mavericks on Tuesday September 14th as they would be clipped by the Mavericks by a 2-0 score.

For most of the game the Knights and Mavericks played on an even field with both teams grabbing their chances and both teams having opportunities to take the lead and seize the momentum of the game.

Middletown, for their credit, much like their other games kept digging throughout the game and seemed to be in an excellent position to win the game and take down the Mavericks but ended on the short side of the score falling 2-0.

Still, this game will provide the Knights with a little bit of momentum as through their first three games against tougher Carroll County opposition the Knights have battled every inch of the way and proved that they can compete with upper level competition if they really want to.

Things will ease up for the Knights in the upcoming days as they escape the rough Carroll County portion of their schedule and head to smoother waters with the Frederick County portion of the schedule going for as far as the Knights can see.

They’ll start off that portion of the schedule against the Tuscarora High School Titans as the Knights will look to combine how they played in the first three games with just a little bit of luck to bump them up to a level that they’ve earned.
