Winning After MidKnight
It’s been
rather elementary for the Middletown High School Knights Junior Varsity
Volleyball team this season as they would roll to another straight sets victory
in Match #2 of the season, this time taking down the Urbana High School Hawks
in straight sets.
The Knights
have played in four sets this season so far and have won all of them as they
have proven to be up for the task of playing with some of the best teams in the
region and not even making things look difficult.
Middletown’s
success has started from the bottom up as the Knights’ service game has been
excellent as Middletown is winning the first battle during the match which is
preventing teams from even getting a chance to return their serves.
Once teams do
get a chance to return the Middletown serves the Middletown have done a good
job of getting kills during volleys as the Knights have a large number of
outside the hitters who can pound the ball with massive speed making it
difficult for the teams on the other side of the net to return the volleys that
are coming their way.
This has
proved to be a massive combination for the Knights and it was on display again
as they took down the Hawks in straight sets on the road to bump their record
up to 2-0 this season. One of the big benefits for Middletown has been the play
of Grace Paulishak, one of the veterans on the team who has become a legitimate
presence at the net for Middletown.
Paulishak’s
strong play has translated over to the rest of the team well as Middletown has
shown a deep ability to impose their will on its’ opponents and use talent that
is not usually seen at the Junior Varsity level.
This depth of
talent has helped the Knights make a clean sweep of their season so far and the
Knights will look to continue that domination as they move along in this
season.
