Winning After MidKnight
We have an
easy Monday as there are no Middletown Athletics sporting events and only a few
Middletown alumni in action today and we’ll help to get you through those as we
look at the Knights Notes for September 12th.
Yesterday’s News-9/11
- Emma
Provost (’16) and the La Salle Field Hockey team got back into their winning
ways as they wrapped up a 2-1 win over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in the home
opener for the Explorers. Provost did not play in the La Salle win. (Link)
- Joann
Engestrom (Volunteer Assistant Coach) and the Maryland Field Hockey team would
pick up the first piece of hardware that the Terps have received in this early
season as they took down American 6-2 in the championship game of the Terrapin
Invitational. The Terps rolled over the two game tournament as they won by
margins of four twice in the tournament. (Link)
- Jake Darr (’16)
and Washington & Jefferson Golf would compete at the Guy Kuhn Invitational
at Allegheny College and it would be a good day for both the Presidents and
Darr as Darr would finish day one with a 75, good enough for a tie for eleventh
place while the Presidents would hold twelfth place of 18 teams after the first
round. (Link)
- Clay Smith
(’16) and Hood College Men’s Soccer would not be able to start the season with
five straight games without a loss as
the Blazers would fall in double overtime to Goucher by a 3-2 score. Smith
would stay hot for Hood as he would score the opening goal of the contest and
would add nine shots and seven shots on goal to his ledger. (Link)
- MacKenzie
Noel (’13) and the Salisbury Women’s Soccer team would pick up their second
draw in two games as they would tie with Denison by a 2-2 scoreline. Noel who
is rehabbing from injury would not play. (Link)
- Alizah
Johns-Boehme (’15) and the Villanova Women’s Soccer team would struggle again
as they dropped their six straight game as this time they would fall to the Lehigh
Mountain Hawks, 2-0 as the Wildcats still try to right the ship. Johns-Boehme
would record a shot while playing in 36 minutes of action. (Link)
- Haley
Dalphon (’15) and the Frostburg State Women’s Soccer team would not be able to
handle the challenge brought to them by #12 Swarthmore as they would fall to the
Garnet 3-0. Dalphon would record a shot in the Bobcats’ loss. (Link)
- Sarah
Kovalchick (’15) and the Maryland Women’s Soccer team would fight until the
very end but would fall to George Mason 5-2 in College Park. From a personal
standpoint it was a good night, as Kovalchick would make her season debut in
the loss as she would play four minutes. (Link)
Alumni and High School Record: 2-4-1 (all college), 11th
place.
Knight of the Day: Clay Smith would score another goal
and on a day with not a lot of Middletown alumni in action his goal is what
stands out to us.
Today’s Happenings-9/12
- Erik
Williams (’12), Nick DeSimone (’16) and the Shepherd Golf team will compete in
the first day of the Glade Springs Intercollegiate at Glade Springs Country
Club in Daniels, West Virginia. DeSimone and Williams will tee off in the day
long tournament. (Link)
- Jake Darr
(’16) and the Washington & Jefferson Golf team will finish off what has
been a busy week for them when he plays in the second round of the Guy Kuhn
Invitational hosted by Allegheny College. Darr holds eleventh place
individually while the Presidents are in twelfth of eighteen teams. (Link)
- Brittney
George (’12), Erin Scarborough (’16) and the Hood Women’s Soccer team will look
to turn a win into a win streak when they take on Eastern Mennonite University
from Harrisonburg, Virginia at 7:00 p.m. (Link)
