Winning After MidKnight
It’s Week 3
of the football season and Middletown, who owns a 2-0 record will look to
extend that record to 3-0 when they take on the Linganore High School Lancers.
Add in a busy day of college action and it will be a fun day all around so
without further ado, the Knights Notes for September 16th.
Yesterday’s News-9/15
- The Junior
Varsity Field Hockey team would get in the win column for the first time this
season when they took down the Tuscarora Titans by a 2-0 score. (Recap Coming)
- The Varsity
Field Hockey team would ride the strength of two second half goals to the first
win of the season as they took down the Tuscarora High School Titans by a 2-0
score in Middletown. (Recap Coming)
- The Junior
Varsity Boy’s Soccer team would stumble in a tough one as the Tuscarora Titans
would effectively dispatch of the Knights, taking care of Middletown by a 3-0
score. (Recap Coming)
- On the
other side of the coin was the Varsity Boy’s Soccer team who would do anything
but stumble to the Tuscarora Titans as they recorded another blowout by taking
care of Tuscarora, 5-0. (Recap Coming)
- The Junior
Varsity Girl’s Soccer team would pick up the biggest win of their season so far
as they would power home for a 4-0 win after an offensive outburst helped them
take care of the Tuscarora Titans. (Recap Coming)
- It was a
night of big wins for Middletown Athletics programs as the Varsity Girl’s Soccer
team would also record a huge win as they would use another big offensive
effort to take care of the Tuscarora Titans, 5-1. (Recap Coming)
- The Junior
Varsity Volleyball team would find their win a lot less comfortable as they
would pick up a 2-1 win over the Tuscarora Titans. (Recap Coming)
- But, the
Varsity Volleyball team would have a mixed bag as they would win three straight
close sets to give themselves a 3-0 win over the Tuscarora Titans in a match
that was much closer than it appeared. (Recap Coming)
- Emma
Neahusan (’14) and the Grace College Women’s Soccer fell back in the loss
column again as the Lancers were victims to Davenport on the road, 2-0. That
drops the Lancers record down to 1-3-1 in play this season. (Link)
- The season
for Alizah Johns-Boehme (’15) and the Villanova Women’s Soccer team has been
shaky at times but the Wildcats got back on the right footing as they would
take down their inter-Philly rivals La Salle by a 3-2 score in overtime. Johns-Boehme
would play 10 minutes in the Wildcats win over the Explorers. (Link)
- Even though
the Pac-12 Challenge is a tournament without a winner Sam Higginbothem (’14),
Aubrey Pfau (Director of Volleyball Ops) and Maryland Volleyball had a
challenge ahead of them and in the end that challenge would not pay off as they
would fall to #5 Washington in three straight sets. Higginbothem would record
seven digs and a return error in the three sets as the Terps fell 17-25, 21-25,
17-25 in Los Angeles. (Link)
Alumni and High School Record: 8-3 overall, 7-1 high school, 1-2

Knight of the Day: This season for the Varsity Boy’s
Soccer team has been all good so far and leading the charge has been Josh
Woozley who continued his torrid rain of play scoring two goals and recording
another assist for a four point to pick up the Knight of the Day for 9/15.
Today’s Happenings-9/16
- The Varsity
Football team will look to extend their undefeated start to the season to three
games when they head to Linganore High School to take on the Lancers at 7:00
p.m. The Knights will look to start the season 3-0 for the first time since the
2013-2014 season. (Preview Coming)
- Emma
Provost (’16) and the La Salle Field Hockey team will head to Lock Haven to
begin Atlantic 10 play when they take on the Eagles. The opening faceoff will
go off at 3:00 p.m. as the Explorers will look to start off the A-10 portion of
their schedule with a victory. (Link)
- Parker
Johnson (’12), James Early (’16) and Merchant Marine Academy Football will be
in a New York state of mind when they head down from Kings Port to take on SUNY
Maritime. The Privateers and Mariners will be deep in the heart of the Bronx
when they square off in a college version of ‘Friday Night Lights’ at 7:00 p.m.

- Jake Darr (’16)
and the Washington & Jefferson Golf team will look to continue their hot
streak when compete in the Battle of the Brook at Plum Brook Country Club. The
Presidents will compete in the tournament hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University as
they look to extend their streak of top 10 finishes to three in a row as they
tee off on Day #1 at 9:00 a.m. (Link)
- Haley
Dalphon (’15) and the Frostburg State Women’s Soccer team will look to start a
win streak as they will take on Stevenson in Stevenson at 7:00 p.m. The Bobcats
are coming off a 3-1 win over Shenandoah and have managed to get their record
back to .500 before the contest against the Mustangs. (Link)
- Victoria
Doing (’15), MacKenzie Farran (’16), Sharnette Gonzalez (’14) and the Frederick
Community College Women’s Soccer team will continue Region XX-Division I play
as the Cougars will take on Cecil College on the road at 2:00 p.m. The Cougars
hold a 1-1 record in division play with three games to play. (Link)
- Sarah
Kovalchick (’15) and Maryland Women’s Soccer will start Big Ten play when they
head Northeast to take on Rutgers from Piscataway, New Jersey at 7:00 p.m. The
Terps will have a challenge when they take on the Scarlet Knights as Rutgers
holds a #22 ranking in the country. (Link)
- Sam
Higginbothem (’14), Aubrey Pfau (Director of Volleyball Ops) and Maryland
Volleyball will have a double dip to finish out their time at the Pac-12
Challenge in Los Angeles, California as the Terps will play at 2:00 p.m. and
11:00 p.m. At 2, the Terps will play Oklahoma while at 11 they will dance with
the hosts of the tournament, the University of Southern California. (Link)
- It’s
scrimmage time for Michelle Shedd (’14) and the Hood Women’s Tennis team as the
Blazers will scrimmage against Harford Community College as the Blazers head
down to the Eastern Shore to scrimmage at 3:00 p.m.
