Knights Notes-9/7: Myers starts playoff series

There are a ton of high school athletes who played yesterday so kick back relax and enjoy the Knights Notes for September 7th including all of the recaps of yesterday’s action.

Yesterday’s News

- The Junior Varsity Field Hockey team fell to the Westminster Owls by a score of 2-0 but in our recap you can read why the game meant so much more to the Knights than just a win or a loss. (Link)

- The Varsity Field Hockey team turned things around in the second half of their match-up against Westminster but couldn’t climb out of a 2-0 hole and ended up falling to the Owls by that score. (Link)

- The Middletown High School golf team just snuck by the Tuscarora Titans on a long day at Maryland National Golf Course by a score of 176-204. (Link)

- The Junior Varsity Girl’s Soccer team pulled off an improbable comeback in their first game of the season as they scored four goals in the final twenty minutes to take down Brunswick 4-2. (Link)

- The Varsity Girl’s Soccer team opened their offensive floodgates against the Brunswick Railroaders and ended up pulling out a 3-0 won over the Railroaders. (Link)

- The Junior Varsity Volleyball team rolled over the Liberty Lions in two straight sets. (Link)

- The Varsity Volleyball team played a five-set thriller against Liberty but pulled it out in the end winning 3 sets to 2. (Link)

- Erik Williams (’12) and Nick DeSimone (’16) finished their time at the California (PA) Vulcan Invitational with a 9th place finish out of 13 times. Williams would finish with a 229 tied for 29th place while DeSimone did not golf. (Link)

- Brittney George (’12) and Erin Scarborough (’16) and the Hood Women’s Soccer team had a rough day as they fell to Shenandoah by a score of 4-0. George and Scarborough would start in the win but would not record any statistics except for a yellow card that was picked up by George. (Link)

- Victoria Doing (’15), MacKenzie Farran (’16), and Sharnette Gonzalez (’14) would head into battle with the Frederick Community College Women’s Soccer team but would fall to CCBC-Essex but would fall by a score of 4-1. Gonzalez would play in the loss while not recording any stats while Farran and Doing would not play. (Link)

Knight of the Day: The volleyball team will get this award as their match against Liberty was just plain fun to watch.

 

Today’s Happenings

- The Junior Varsity Football team will start their season off when they take on the Walkersville Lions at Walkersville High School at 5:30 p.m. () ()

- Abigail Provost and the Stevenson Field Hockey team will start their home campaign when they take on Salisbury under the lights in Owings Mills at 7:00 p.m. (Link)

- Clay Smith (’16) and the Hood College Men’s Soccer team will look to continue their winning ways when they take on Shenandoah from downtown Frederick at 4:00 p.m. (Link)

- Haley Dalphon (’15) and the Frostburg State Women’s Soccer team will take on Washington & Jefferson at home tonight at 7:00 p.m. as they search for their first win of the season. (Link)

- Lauren Neary (’15) and the Washington College Women’s Soccer team will look to remain undefeated as they take on St. Mary’s College of Maryland at 4:00 p.m. (Link)

- In the final Women’s Soccer match for Middletown alumni, Sarah Kovalchick (’15) and Maryland Women’s Soccer will head to Annapolis to take on Navy at 7:00 p.m. (Link)

- Connor Myers (’12) and the South Bend Cubs will start their Midwest League playoff series from Comstock Park, Michigan as they take on the West Michigan Whitecaps at 6:35 p.m. (Link)
