Varsity Girl's Soccer: Knights put everything togther in 3-0 win

Winning After MidKnight

For the Middletown High School Knights Varsity Girl’s Soccer team it was only a matter of if and not when the Knights would put things together as a whole and play a solid game for the full 80 minutes resulting in a win.

It didn’t come at the Urbana Tournament as the Knights played well in parts but not strong enough overall in a 3-0 loss to the Broadneck High School Bruins and a 1-1 draw against the Westminster High School Owls.

But, it finally clicked for the Knights in their game against the Brunswick High School Railroaders on Tuesday September 6th.

And, when it clicked, it clicked all at once for the Knights as they easily dispatched the Railroaders by a score of 3-0 in their first Central Maryland Conference game of the season.

The Knights had for their first two games played good soccer at times. That was evidenced by the fact that the Knights only allowed three goals in their game against Broadneck, a team that is widely considered an offensive juggernaut.

It was also seen in the fact that in a game against the Westminster Owls that didn’t matter for anything except pride and to get warmed up for the season the Knights battled for 80 minutes to get a tie with Westminster, but just couldn’t get the large scale results that they had hoped for.

The Brunswick game was when things came together for the Knights as they managed to open the floodgates once one goal went in.

The one goal that opened the floodgates came from Middletown junior Madison Michael at the midway point of the first half as Michael would find herself alone with just the keeper in front of her and do what Middletown had been waiting to do all season.

Put the ball in the back of the net to give the Knights the lead.

It was a breath of fresh air for the Knights and from there the offense came pouring and pouring in as two more goals from Maddy Bedri and Lindsey Brant would help the Knights get over the hump.

Getting over that hump proved crucial as the Knights picked up their first win of the season after delivering a full 80 minutes of play.
