Winning After MidKnight
The spring sports season is slowly
creeping upon us and by the time you read these notes and tomorrow morning we
will have 4 spring sports season previews for you. They’ll all be lacrosse
previews but baseball, softball, tennis, and track and field will be soon to
follow.
Without further ado, here are your
Knights Notes for March 16th:
- Chase Hoffman and the Shepherd Rams
Baseball team saw their hot start to the season continue as they took care of
University of Virginia-Wise in a doubleheader. The Rams took Game 1 handily,
18-3 and then edged UVA-Wise in a closer contest in Game 2, 5-2. Hoffman did
not play for the Rams in either contest. (Link)
- It’s been a tough week for Mitch
Sgrignoli and the Mount Saint Mary’s baseball team and it would only continue
down in Bel Air, Maryland at the Harford Sports Complex as the Mountaineers
would drop both ends of a doubleheader with St. Bonaventure. The Mount lost
Game 1, 5-2 and then dropped Game 2, 6-3, seeing their record fall to 2-8.
Sgrignoli would play 3 innings in left field for the Mount in Game 1, getting 1
at-bat – a swinging strike out. Sgrignoli would not play in Game 2. (Link)
- Robby Tucker and the Frostburg State
Bobcats Baseball team would prove that their #25 ranking is no fluke as they
swept a doubleheader from Christopher Newport University in Newport News,
Virginia. The Bobcats would beat the Captains, 9-5 in Game 1. Tucker would play
5+ innings at catcher in game 1 going 0-2 with a strikeout, and defensively 3
put-outs, 2 assists, and a passed ball. Tucker wouldn’t play in Game 2, as the
Bobcats won that contest 16-10. (Link)
- Max Edelmann and the Community
College of Baltimore County-Essex Men’s Lacrosse team would continue the
undefeated start to their season as they won their 4th straight,
taking down Suffolk Community College, 14-1. Edelmann would record a win, his 2nd
of the year, stopping 15 of 16 shots over 50 minutes of action. (Link)
- Connor Myers and the Old Dominion
University Baseball team would let a bad inning get the best of them with that
being their downfall as they lost to Western Kentucky, 9-5 in the series
finale. Myers would go 2-4 in the Monarchs loss with 2 singles, 2 strikeouts, 2
putouts, and 3 runners left on base. (Link)
- Emily Boyce and the Richmond Spiders
Women’s Lacrosse team would see a brief parlay of their road trip on the west
coast end in defeat as they fell to the Oregon Ducks, 15-11. Boyce would play
38:02 and receive a losing decision, dropping her record to 3-5. Boyce would
allow 10 goals on 12 shots for the Spiders. (Link)

Knight
of the Day-March 15th: Max

Knights and for that he is our Knight of the Day recipient.
Record of MHS teams and teams with
