Welcome to Knights Notes, a daily recap and preview of all the stuff happening with Knights athletics and former Middletown athletes.

We are slowly building up to the main event of the week, the boys basketball game on Tuesday at Oakdale; but for now a little college baseball action to hold all of our readers over.

Without further ado, here are your Knights Notes for March 2nd:

- Matt Capobianco and the Gettysburg wrestling team came in 16th place out of 18 teams at the NCAA Division III East Regional. Capobianco would not wrestle for the Bullets on Sunday. (Link)

- Tyler Kishimoto and the Messiah College wrestling team would do the opposite of the Bullets as the Falcons would take the title and 1st place at the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional hosted at Messiah College. Kishimoto would not wrestle for the Falcons. (Link)

- Mitch Sgrignoli and the Mount Saint Mary’s baseball team would split their improvised doubleheader, taking down the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks 8-2 but then getting clipped by the Kentucky Wildcats, 8-2. Sgrignoli would come into the game in the bottom of the 8th, getting hit by a pitch, advancing on a passed ball, and playing left field in the 9th against Nebraska-Omaha. Then against the Wildcats he would ground out to the pitcher in the top of the 9th. (Link)

- Erin Doherty and the Shippensburg women’s indoor track and field team would take down the competition at the Pennsylvania Sports Athletic Conference Championship, winning 1st with a total of 122 points. Doherty would finish with a shot put toss of 12.42 meters good enough for 7th place overall in the shot put and 2 points for her team. (Link)

- Robby Tucker and the Frostburg State Baseball team had their final two games in Fayetteville, North Carolina against Pitt-Greensburg and Ramapo College cancelled due to rain down South. (Link)

- Howie Kalamets and the Immaculata University baseball team would make quick work of Susquehanna University, taking down the Crusaders 4-2 in Game 1 and 3-1 in Game 2. Kalamets wouldn’t play in Game 1 but would see playing time in Game 2 and make an impact. Kalamets would double and then score in the 2nd inning, single to center in the forth (although he was picked off), and single to right before being gunned down later in the 6th inning at home plate. All and all, Kalamets would go 3-3 with a run, 2 singles, and a double. (Link)

- Jennifer Desimone and the American women’s lacrosse team would see their game against Johns Hopkins be postponed due to rain and snow in the D.C. area. The Eagles and Blue Jays will try again tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. (Link)

- Chase Hoffman and the Shepherd baseball team would sweep a doubleheader of their own as they took down Concord University in Clover, South Carolina by a score of 11-2 in Game 1 and 7-1 in Game 2. In game 1, Hoffman would strike out looking in the 1st and 3rd inning, before grounding out to third in the 4th. He would get in the hit column though as he singled to the left side before being caught up in a double play. Hoffman would not play in Game 2 leaving him 1-4 on the day. (Link)

- Connor Myers and the Old Dominion Monarchs baseball team would fall in an offensive slugfest against Rutgers, losing to the Scarlet Knights 13-9. Myers would go 3-5 for the Monarchs. Myers would single in the third but end up getting caught in a double play. Myers would triple to right field in the 5th inning and later score. Myers would then strike out looking in the 7th and then reach on a bunt single in the 8th, before grounding out to the pitcher to end the game. Myers would finish with 2 singles, a triple, 1 run, a strikeout, and 5 put-outs. (Link)

- Nick Rabat and the VCU Rams baseball team would score their second extra inning win against the Pittsburgh Panthers in Myrtle Beach, beating the Panthers 3-2 in 10 innings. Rabat would not play for the Rams. (Link)

Knight of the Day-March 1st: Coming off the bench in the 2nd game of a doubleheader is tough, but former Middletown Knight Howie Kalamets would play the role to a tee, going 3-3 in his season debut with 4 total bases, a run, and a double in a Mighty Macs win over Susquehanna.

Record of MHS teams and teams with former MHS athletes: 6-2, 2 1st place finishes, 1 16th place finish, 1 postponement, and 2 cancellations.

- Howie Kalamets and the Immaculata Mighty Macs baseball team will compete in their 2nd straight doubleheader in Fort Pierce, Florida taking on Elizabethtown College with 1st pitch of Game 1 at 10:00 a.m. and Game 2 at 12:30 p.m. (Link)

- Chase Hoffman and the Shepherd baseball team will also play in their second straight doubleheader in Clover, South Carolina when they take on Concord University. Game 1 kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with Game 2 starting at 1:30 p.m. (Link)

- Katie Breeze and the Robert Morris Colonials women’s lacrosse team will continue their road swing when they head to Dover, Delaware to take on the Delaware State Hornets at 1:00 p.m. (Link)

The Eagles are set to take on the #18 Blue Jays in Baltimore (a change from yesterday) with a 3:00 p.m. start time from the Charm City. (Link)

-Austin Main and the Davis & Elkins baseball team will begin their season when they take on the Catawba College Indians at 5:00 p.m. today. (Link)
