Welcome to Knights Notes, a daily recap and preview of all the stuff happening with Knights athletics and former Middletown athletes.

Today is the day as one of the last two hopes for Middletown High School to win a winter state championship faces their biggest hurdle yet, as the Middletown High School Knights Boys Basketball team will face Oakdale at 7:00 p.m. today.

Without further ado, here are your Knights Notes for March 3rd:

- Howie Kalamets and the Immaculata Baseball team would sweep their doubleheader two days ago against Susquehanna but yesterday would be a different story as the Mighty Macs would be swept Elizabethtown College. The Blue Jays would take Game 1 by a score of 8-4 and then surge late to win Game 2, 9-8. Kalamets would go 0-3 in Game 1 getting hit by a pitch in the 1st inning, grounding out to 3rd base in the 2nd inning, and then striking out swinging in the 4th and 7th. In Game 2, Kalamets would also go 0-3 but would score a run for the Mighty Macs. Kalamets would reach on an error in the 2nd, reach on a fielder’s choice in the 3rd, and line out to shortstop in the 5th. (Link)

- Chase Hoffman and the Shepherd Baseball team would take on Concord University in their second doubleheader in a row in Clover, South Carolina and the Rams would split today’s action. Shepherd would win Game 1, 4-1, while losing Game 2, 6-2. Hoffman would not play in Game 1 and pinch hit in Game 2, flying out to right field in the 6th inning and then playing an inning on defense. - Katie Breeze and the Robert Morris Colonials would stay hot racking up their third straight win against the Delaware State Hornets, taking down the Hornets 20-5 in Dover. Breeze would start a point streak, adding a goal on her only shot to give her points and goals in 2 straight games. Breeze would also add a face-off win, a ground ball, and 2 created turnovers to her stat ledger. (Link)

- Mitch Sgrignoli and the Mount Saint Mary’s Baseball team would take their worst loss of the season getting shellacked by Northeastern University 15-1, in 8 innings. Sgrignoli would go 0-0 on the day walking in his only at-bat of the day in the 8th inning. He would also play an inning of defense in center field. (Link)

- Jennifer Desimone and the American Women’s Lacrosse team would also take a shellacking this time at the hands of the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays, falling in Baltimore by a score of 19-6. Desimone would play in the Eagles loss turning the ball over twice. (Link)

- Austin Main and the Davis & Elkins Baseball team would start their season with a common theme among former Middletown athletes, a shellacking. This one was at the hands of Catawba College, as the Senators took an 11-0 loss. Main would not pitch for Davis & Elkins in the loss. (Link)

Knight of the Day-March 2nd: It was a tough day for former Middletown athletes so there aren’t a lot of chances but we’ll give the award to Katie Breeze. The former Knight recorded a goal, extending her point and goal streak to two games.

Record of MHS teams and teams with former MHS athletes: 2-6.
