We’re hitting more and more milestones in our run towards the start of the regular season as today is the day of the first home Varsity Football game (albeit, a scrimmage) which officially means that high school sports season is around the corner. With that in mind take a peak at the Knights Notes for August 26th and don’t forget to make sure you show up to watch the scrimmage later today-it’s free!

Yesterday’s News

- Sarah Kovalchick (’15) and the Maryland Women’s Soccer team notched their first win of the season taking down the William & Mary Tribe by a score of 3-2. Kovalchick did not play in the Terps win. (Link)

- It was a pitcher’s duel in South Bend, Indiana as Connor Myers (’13) and the South Bend Cubs lost a close one to the West Michigan Whitecaps 2-1. It was an average day for Myers at the plate as he went 1-3 with a strikeout in the loss. (Link)

Knight of the Day: Not much too choose from for August 26th so by default this one will go to Connor Myers of the South Bend Cubs.

Today’s Happenings

Things get busier today on the alumni side of things as we will have multiple alumni and their team’s making their season debuts and on top of that the first home football contest of the year.

Opening draw is from St. Joseph’s Ellan Ryan Field at 4:00 p.m. (Link)

- Maryland Volleyball boasts two Middletown alumni as Aubrey Pfau is currently the Director of Volleyball Operations and Sam Higgenbothem (’14) is a Junior libero for the Terps. Both will have their seasons’ start tomorrow on their home court as the Maryland Invite gets underway, a 4-team tournament involving the Terps, Delaware State, Sacred Heart, and Eastern Michigan. The undercard between Sacred Heart and Delaware State will kick off at 4:30, with the Terps taking on their visitors from Eastern Michigan at 7. (Link)
