Winning After MidKnight
The countdown
to the first official start date for almost all of the high school sports is
underway is at 7 days before September 2nd comes around. But, if you
think sports haven’t started then let the Knights Notes for August 27th
tell you otherwise.
Yesterday’s News
- The
Middletown High School Junior Varsity Football team scrimmaged South Hagerstown
yesterday and came out on the good end of a 14-12 result that was stopped
midway through the 3rd quarter because of a time limit.
- The Varsity
Football team would also scrimmage South Hagerstown but take down the Rebels a
bit more handily, dispatching them by a score of 42-6.
- Ali
Williams (’16) fell in her debut as her Appalachian State Field Hockey team
lost to Ball State, 3-1. (Link)
- Joann
Engestrom also had a debut today as she was making her first appearance as a
Volunteer Assistant Coach for Maryland Field Hockey who wiped through Saint
Joseph’s, 6-2 in the 2016 Conference Cup. (Link)
- Middletown
alumni Aubrey Pfau and Sam Higgenbothem (’14) are on opposite sides of the
court for Maryland Volleyball but the result was the same as Maryland wiped
through Eastern Michigan 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 in Game #2 of the 2016 Maryland
Invite. A Sacred Heart win in the earlier match of the day leaves the Pioneers
and the Terps tied for 1st place of the tournament. (Link)
- Connor
Myers (’12) and the South Bend Cubs have hit a slight down spell of late as the
Cubs with the Cubs losing six of their last ten including last night’s shutout
loss to the Great Lakes Loons. Myers did not pick up a hit for the Cubs going
0-3, but that was the norm for the Cubs as they only recorded three hits on the
day. (Link)
Knight of the Day: She got her season started off on the
right foot and for that reason Sam Higgenbothem is the Knight of The Day.
Higgenbothem had 1 assist, 2 aces, and 2 digs for the Terps but more
importantly used her serving to flip the momentum in the final 2 sets of the
Terps win and pick up the Knight of the Day for August 27th.
