It’s a Labor Day edition of the Knights Notes so no intro, just relax and take a look at the Knights Notes for September 5th.

Yesterday’s News

- Ali Williams (’16) and the Appalachian State Field Hockey team smoothly rolled to their first win of the season taking down newcomer LIU Brooklyn by a score of 8-1. Williams would get the start for the Mountaineers and she wouldn’t disappoint as she would score two goals on five shots on goal and add two assists on what was her best day in her short college career. - Emma Provost (’16) and the La Salle Field Hockey team took on and fell to their cross-town rivals Temple, 3-2 in an Owls come from behind win. Provost would not play in the loss. (Link)

- Joann Engestrom, an Assistant Coach for the Maryland Field Hockey team, saw her Terps jump back into the win column at the 2016 Big Ten/ACC Challenege in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. #6 Maryland took down #8 Boston College, 3-1, in the Terps final game against ACC competition this year. (Link)

- It was a career day for Clay Smith (’16) as in only his second game for the Hood Men’s Soccer team as the Blazers took down FDU-Florham by a score of 6-1. Smith had two goals on five shots with four of them on goal and one assist as the Blazers closed out the Drew Fall Festival. (Link)

- It was a good day for Alizah Johns-Boehme (’15) and the Villanova Women’s Soccer team as they battled hard with the #8 North Carolina Tar Heels in Durham, North Carolina but ultimately fell in the end, 2-0. Johns-Boehme did not play in the Wildcats’ loss. (Link)

- Haley Dalphon (’15) and the Frostburg State Women’s Soccer team fell in their second straight one-goal loss, this time to Catholic University by a 2-1 score. Dalphon recorded, two shots with both on goal as the Cardinals clipped the Bobcats. (Link)

- Sarah Kovalchick (’15) and the Maryland Women’s Soccer team have lost three games and all of them have been by one goal as the Terps lost to Appalachian State by a score of 2-1. Kovalchick did not play in the loss. (Link)

- Connor Myers and the South Bend Cubs will look to close out their season on a 3-game win streak as the Cubs picked up their second straight win as they took down the Dayton Dragons, 3-2. Myers went 0-3 with a run, a walk, and a strikeout in the Cubs’ victory. (Link)

Knight of the Day: We’re gonna have to call this one as a dead tie and split it between Ali Williams and Clay Smith. Two college freshman, two goals per person, both only having played single digits, and hopefully both starting an awesome career.

Today’s Happenings
